The Huntsman offers a variety of upland bird hunting options including pheasant, chukar partridge, and quail, from August 15th through April 30th each year. Choose from traditional field hunts, club Europeans see dates below, or design your own private European; our experienced guides will ensure that you have an exciting, fun-filled day. Our guides each have their own skilled gun dogs, however, members are always welcome to bring their own dogs.
Field hunts are 1/2 day and either go out at 9:00 am or 1:15 p.m. We have 10 hunting fields available. From the 'Wheat field' to the 'Shank's Pond field' each offers a challenging, yet beautiful setting. Lined with mature wooded areas and planted with sorghum each spring, the fields offer a variety of cover and feed for the birds.
Club European Shoots are offered several times during the season. This festive day begins at 8:30 in the morning with a hunter's breakfast; then off to the field with a hay wagon ride. Hunters take to their blinds, horns are blown and the birds are released; usually over 300 birds! A hearty lunch is served in the European cabin and then hunters head out for a follow-up field hunt. The day ends back at the clubhouse with heavy hors d'ouevres, cocktails, and a tall tale or two.
